FAQ

Boarding

Can I take a tour of your facility?

Please do! We welcome tours Monday through Friday 10am-7pm. Our tours are for humans only, we may have someone available to hold your dog in the lobby.

Do I need to bring my dog in before I board as an evaluation?

We do not require it, however you may for your peace and mind! We accept all breeds and behaviors.

Do you board aggressive dogs?

Yes. The way our front runs are designed allows us to care for dog aggressive and human aggressive dogs. They are all divided by concrete walls inside and out to prevent fence fighting and with the indoor and outdoor feature we do not have to leash walk dogs to potty. We are just unable to administer medication or groom human aggressive dogs.

Will my dog be socializing with other dogs?

We offer daycamp to boarding dogs by request. Daycamp is an additional $12/day.

How often do my dog's get to go outside?

Each dog has their own indoor/outdoor run and have full access from 5:30am-8pm as long as weather allows. If weather is stormy or cold, all dogs are kept inside with the temperature controlled and are let out to potty every 2-3 hours. If you request daycamp or personal play time, they are in the daycamp yard periodically throughout the day.

How big is my dog's run?

The inside is 4ft by 5ft and the outside of each run is 4ft by 10ft. The runs are all concrete for sanitary reasons and every dog has a dog cot, unless they've destroyed it.

Can I bring my dog's bed?

Yes and No. We provide each dog a vinyl cot to keep them comfortable and we have blankets for those that like to curl up. You can bring blankets and beds from home, we just ask that they are small enough to fit in a normal size washer and dryer. The indoor area for each dog is 4x5 ft, so XL beds will limit your dog's space.

Do you have pick-up and drop-off times on Sunday?

By appointment only either between 9-10 am or 4-5pm for a flat fee of $20

My dog eats raw, is this something you can accommodate?

Yes, please keep in mind we have a normal size fridge and freezer

How many times a day are the dogs fed?

They are fed twice a day unless a medical reason signed by your veterinarian requires three meals.

Can my dog's stay in the same run?

If your dog's do not have any issues eating together or do not redirect aggression on each other, yes they can stay in the same run.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Mon-Friday check-in is from 7am -7pm. Check out is 7am-12pm and anything after 12pm is a daystay charge of $18.

Saturday check-in and Check-out is 9am-3pm

Sunday by appointment only 9-10am or 4-5pm with a $20 fee

Training

How often is my dog out training?

That is dependent on where your dog is at in their training. Every dog learns at a different rate and each dog has a different attention span. We have found that for most dog's it is more beneficial to train for shorter periods multiple times a day. However, if your dog is further along in their training, we would be working on duration of commands, therefore we would have longer, but less training sessions throughout the day.

Will my dog be able to play with other dogs while they are in training?

New training dogs do not go to daycamp, we would like to save that energy and focus on training. However, if your dog is with us for refresher training, you may add a half day of training and half day of daycamp.

My dog knows basic commands, what else will you be teaching them?

While 90% of dogs will know a sit and down at home, we are working towards the reliability of those commands under higher distractions or stress. That's great that he knows it at home, but does he know it when you take him to the dog park, festival, or patio? It may sounds simple, but at a time of high stimulation, it can be extremely hard for our dog's to follow through.

Can you fix my dog's aggression?

No. A dog can be taught how to act appropriately and control those impulses, but you cannot make them like people or dogs. Some dogs just don't like to interact with other dogs, why put them in an uncomfortable situation that may cause longterm damage? We have worked with thousands of aggressive dogs and with our experience, obedience and overall control is more important than nose to nose interactions.

Can you fix my dog's separation anxiety?

No, but we can manage and teach a dog to live more calmly. Depending on the severity you will see changes with consistent training over time.

My dog is scared of other dogs, will training help socialize them to where I can take them to the dog park?

No. We can teach a dog how to properly act around other dogs, however this is where fear aggression starts if not controlled appropriately.

If my dog stays over a weekend during the trainers' day off, does my dog just sit in the kennel?

All dogs are taken care of over the weekends and we are fully staffed from 5:30am-8pm. We sometimes suggest keeping them at our facility over these weekends because it is less likely they will go home and revert back to the habits we are trying to break.

Daycamp

How is the daycamp day structured?

Depending on what dogs we have each day, we separate groups according to temperament. We find what dogs play best together. We start daycamp at 9am and end around 4:30. We take a break midday to give all the dogs a chance to recoup and chill out for a midday nap.

Can I bring lunch for my dog?

We will not feed daycamp dogs lunch to minimize risk of bloat. You may however bring a kong with a treat inside if you wish.

Do you have an indoor daycamp yard?

We do not have an indoor daycmap yard. Please be aware your dog may have muddy paws when they go home which is also a sign they had a good time.

Does daycamp get canceled during bad weather?

We will occasionally cancel daycamp and post it on social media. If the weather is bad it is always a good idea to give us a call to check. We still have daycamp in the snow, just shorter more frequent sessions so paws don't freeze.

How do I schedule my dog for daycamp?

Give us a call and we can schedule your dog's daycamp for you! If you are new to MSK9 we will email you a daycamp contract to start.

My dog does not do well with other dogs, will daycamp help?

No, in fact it most likely will make things worse. We will not put other dogs in danger if a dog does not like the interaction with other dogs and chance a dog fight. We will try personal play instead.

My dog has been through training at MSK9, can he attend daycamp?

Yes of course, as long as they are dog friendly.

How many dogs are in each group?

We have a maximum of 15 dogs in each group.

Are small dogs included in your play group?

All sizes are welcome! We incorporate smaller dogs with the calmer groups. We will always let you know if your dog enjoys daycamp or not.
